Yancey
May 2016 — George Yancey (left) is a professor of sociology here at the University of North Texas, and author of publications which document prejudice against Christians in academia: “Compromising Scholarship” “Too Many Christians, Too Few Lions” and “Hostile Environment.”

While Yancey has been writing about this subject for several years, it is only recently that others have noticed. Today’s New York Times features an article by columnist Nicolas Kristof in which he admits his “liberal intolerance.”

Kristof writes: “Universities are the bedrock of progressive values, but the one kind of diversity that universities disregard is ideological and religious. We’re fine with people who don’t look like us, as long as they think like us.”

We are thankful that the work of Yancey and others who challenge the existing paradigm are being given (at least in some places) a bit of a hearing.
